Gretna Athletic Club is a youth sports organization providing athletes in kindergarten through 6th grade the opportunity to experience new sports that otherwise aren’t readily available in our local community.
During the 2024-25 school year we plan to offer multiple track & field sessions through our Gretna Running Club, as well as one or more tennis sessions through our Gretna Racket Club. Each session will last 4-6 weeks and will feature direct coaching from area high school and middle school coaches and athletes coaching and competing in these respective sports. Our sessions will focus on introducing young athletes to general and sport-specific skills that will benefit them as they pursue athletics during their elementary, middle school and high school years.
Our programs are recreational in nature and we expect to make them available to students enrolled in kindergarten through 8th grade during the 2024-25 school year. Participation will not generally be limited by school but we do intend to allow early registration for athletes residing in the Gretna Public School District. Space in each session will be limited based on coach availability.
We’re working with the Gretna Public School District to secure space at their middle school and first-class high school facilities. Facilities may shift between sessions but we intend for all practices and events to be held on one or more of the Gretna Public School District’s campuses.
Visit our Gretna Running Club and Gretna Racket Club pages to register or utilize our Contact Us page for inquiries and questions. Note that we require Waiver Forms for all athletes participating in our sessions.
The health and safety of our participants and coaches is our highest priority. Our safety policies and protocols can be found on our Forms page. In addition, we’ve compiled a number of concussion resources which are available on our Concussion Safety page.
